CAT'S CLAW
Also known as UNA DE GATO
Cats claw is a vigorous vine that gets its name from the hooked thorns with which it holds onto other trees for support. It can reach to a height of 30m. Known to botany as Uncaria Tomentosa it is most prevalent in Peru, where it has been used as a tea for centuries.
Cats Claw has been known and studied in Europe since the 1960s, and a large amount of research and analysis has been carried out. In 1994 the world health organisation sponsored the first International conference on Cats Claw in Geneva, and the special status for the plant in the field of ethnobotany was recognised. Material for further study is available on the Internet for those interested in a deeper understanding of Cats Claw uses.
