Description:
The Neem tree originates from the Bay of Bengal. It has been used traditionally for the treatment of many diseases in Ayurvedic medicine and for the protection of people and animals from insect pests.
How it works:
The Neem tree contains at least 35 biologically active principles distributed throughout the leaves, seeds and bark.
Neem leaves have antibacterial activity and the constituents nimbolide and nimbic acid have been shown to be active against the bacteria responsible for skin infections. In addition, the leaves and the oil from the seeds have anti-inflammatory properties.
The insecticidal properties of Neem seed oil are due to the constituent Azadirachtin A which affects feeding, development and reproduction in insect pests.
Additional advice:
Neem oil should not be taken internally. Diabetics should not self treat any conditions of the foot. Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
