Aromatherapy Oils

Aromatherapy is typically used as a complementary therapy to help any number of ailments naturally.

From headaches to insomnia and even decongestants; these fragrant aromatherapy oils stimulate your brain’s olfactory and limbic systems which control your emotions and behaviours. As a result, your well being is improved. And in certain ways, you may feel physically healthier too.

Aromatherapy usually uses essential oil blends, that have been diluted in a carrier oil for immediate use.

They are the undiluted pure oils from the plants and flowers, and should never be used undiluted.

• For skin?
  As long as they’re used in low concentrations of <5%, then yes. But you should always do a small patch test to make sure there are no adverse effects.
• For consumption?
  We do not recommend it. These are incredibly potent and the undiluted chemicals could be harmful to your insides.
• For pregnant women?
  Some are, some are not; it’s all about the chemicals. Make sure to read the label and only visit trained aromatherapists for treatment. We do not recommend trying it out on your own without some advice from your doctor either.
• For babies?
  Because they are still growing and everything is still so sensitive to them, we suggest you steer clear of using aromatherapy oils around newborns.

  If you want to use it once they are past the 3 month mark, then try a few drizzles diluted (<1% dilution) in their bath water or in a diffuser to see how they react.

• For animals?
  That is a definite no. Animals have a much more sensitive sense of smell than humans do, and aromatherapy oils are quite pungent. So make sure you have a delicate hand when using them in your pet friendly home. There are a bunch which are harmful and potentially toxic to pets, such as citrus, tea tree and pine. If you are at all worried, make sure your pet is breathing ok, that they are not drooling and they are walking fine, and that they are behaving normally. If they are not, then get to your vets.
