Violet (Viola odorata / Sweet Violet) is one of the most popular of all the varieties of Violet.
A European native, Violets are packed with vitamin C and contain a vitamin A content similar to spinach.
Violet Blossoms are also good to eat fresh, you can include them on salads as a beautiful garnish.
Violet leaves have, according to some, traditionally been used as a treatment for anxiety & nervousness and Violets have been tested for their efficacy in treating chronic insomnia.
Approx 5-10g of dried leaves per 250ml of boiling water can be steeped for ten minutes, strained, and drunk up to three times a day.
