Swedish Bitters (also known as Swedish Herbs) was created by the Swiss physician, Dr. Phillipus Paracelsus, circa 1541. Swedish Bitters was originally developed as a digestive aid. However, the benefits that were subsequently discovered and realized since its creation, far, far outnumber its original purpose. After 400 years, it is the most popular herbal remedy throughout Europe, found in practically every kitchen cupboard. No other remedy has stood the test of time as Swedish Bitters. It is truly worthy of the name, “The Long Life Elixir”

- Pour 100g into a wide-necked

- 2 litre bottle and add 1.5 litres of 38% to 40% vodka, rye or fruit spirits.

- The bottle is left standing in the sun or near the stove for 14 days and shaken daily.

- The liquid is then strained and poured into small bottles, well stoppered and stored in cool place. This way it can be kept for many years.

- The longer it stands the more effective it becomes!

- Shake well before use!

Alternatively some of the liquid can be strained into a small bottle and the rest

left in the bottle until required.

TEA: For people who want alcohol-free Swedish Bitters, they can make a tea by putting one teaspoon of dried herbs in a teapot and pouring in 3 cups of boiling water, stir frequently and when cool store in fridge.

Two tablespoons of cooled tea may be added to a cup of boiling water and drunk two times daily.

Swedish Bitters Tea is a very, very strong drink. It should be drunk only with care and discretion.

CAUTION: As aloe stimulates uterine contraction it is recommended that pregnant women reduce the dose to 2.5ml (1/2 teaspoon) twice daily.
