Gift from the Gods

Guarana has been used for thousands of years as a tonic and stimulant. Among the Maues and other native tribes of Brazil, guarana is believed to be a sacred plant sent by the gods. For the Maue-Sateres tribe, guarana is central to its cultural identity. Its cultivation, preparation and use are infused with ancient myths and time-honoured rituals. Each December the riverside town of Maues hosts the annual guarana festival.

Where is our Guarana from?

GoGo Guarana is prepared using Brazilian guarana from the Amazon Rainforest, ensuring that only the highest quality guarana is used. The seed is harvested, and dried slowly before being ground into powder. This process is based on the traditional methods of production as the traditional technique yields a better flavour than industrially processed guarana. There are of course no chemicals used in the growing and harvesting of the guarana seeds, and a fair price is negotiated with the growers.

Guarana seed has been used by indigenous Amazon tribes for centuries to help to reduce mental fatigue, and to help increase concentration and alertness.

The Guarana plant, a member of the soapberry family, is a climbing shrub native to the Amazon Rainforest. It gets its name from a local word which means 'secret eyes' as the fruit, which is about the size of a hazelnut, contains a white aril and black seed giving the appearance of an eye.

It gains its energizing benefits from a number of actives that are found in the seed. These include caffeine, theophylline and theobromine. These stimulants are found in a complex named Guaranine that provides gentle stimulation over a period of several hours, without the peak and trough in energy that is associated with many sources of caffeine. The level of caffeine found in the recommended daily dose of GoGo Guaraná (two capsules) is less that that found in a single cup of coffee!
