Flower essences are liquid extracts derived from the flowering part of a plant. They are believed to carry the energetic imprint and vibrational energy of the flowers they are extracted from.
Flower essences are thought to have healing qualities that may assist with a range of emotional symptoms such as low mood, anxiety and depression. Created by an English homeopath called Edward Bach in the 1930s, it was stated they had the power to change people’s lives through transforming their mental and spiritual wellness.

Each flower essence can be mixed with water and added to a spray bottle or alternatively, put a few drops under the tongue.
How to use flower essences
Flower essences are often taken orally, but can also be used by spraying the body or misting around the home. Flower essences can come in a range of forms such as:

You can also use the essences in combination with treatment performed by an alternative therapist, such as reiki, acupuncture, or massage therapies.
How do flower essences work?
It has been said that flower essences work slightly differently from other herbal supplements, medications or essential oils. This is because they are believed to work with the emotional field and subtle forms of energy that surround the body.
Know as ‘energetic’ medicine, flower essences are associated with similar treatments in the field such as reiki or crystal healing. Essences aim to capture the vibrational energy and life force of a plant and are thus thought to transform negative energy associated with times of mental turmoil.
How are flower essences made?
A cross between a herbal remedy and energetic medicine, the creation of flower essences seeks to harness the energetic imprint of plants by extraction via water, alcohol and sunlight.
The flowering part of the chosen plant is submerged in water and left in sunlight, then filtered and preserved with alcohol such as brandy.
