100% Pure Buckthorn Bark
Buckthorn (Rhamnus catharicus) is a north European native shrub whose berries & bark are used medicinally. Primarily Buckthorn is a stimulant laxative, stimulating the muscles of the bowel to contract and help with bowel movement.
The bark is dried for up to a year before use medicinally (fresh bark has the side effect of inducing vomiting if ingested).
The combination of glycosides, tannins, lipids & flavonoids in Buckthorn bark all help to create more fluid in the colon and result in strong, soft bowel movement.
Buckthorn bark takes a good six to ten hours to take effect so most people take it at bedtime.
It's definitely worth noting that you should drink plenty of water throughout the day when taking buckthorn and should increase your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Taken with peppermint tea or capsules can help with any unpleasant sensations from the strong contractions and griping that are often experienced.
Do not use for more than eight to ten days (as with any laxative) as this may cause electrolyte loss and may even weaken the colon and, long-term, cause kidney damage.

- Express orders must be placed before 1pm on any weekday
- Orders placed after 1pm on Thursday will be delivered by 1pm on the following Monday
- There must be someone available to sign for receive the package between 7am 1pm on the day of delivery

Returns
Here at Baldwins it is our policy to give 100% satisfaction. We do know however, that there may be the odd occasion when you wish to return items. Below you will find an outline of our returns policy.
28 Day No-Quibble Guarantee
If, for any reason, you are unhappy with an item you have received, you may return it within 28 days, unopened and in its original condition, to our Freepost address (below). Upon receipt, we will be happy to give you a full refundfor the item.
Alternatively, you may wish to exchange the item for another. Please note that post and packing costs are non-refundable.
Returning An Item
To return an item, please package in its original wrapping (if possible) and provide a note outlining your name, address, order number and reason for returning.
If your item is under 20 Kg and is smaller than 61cm (L) x 46cm (W) x 46cm (D) then you can use our Free Royal Mail 48 Hour Tracked service by heading here and filling in the appropriate details:

This service will generate a label that you can either print at home or take with you to the post office for them to print.
You will need your order number which is the 6 digit number sent out on your order dispatch email. (If you have any trouble finding this, do give us a call and we can happily find it for you).
Once orders are returned, we aim to process them within 72 hours and (if required) notify you by mail when we have processed your refund and ship any replacements out as soon as possible.
If your item is over 20 Kg or larger than the specified size (or too heavy for you to take to the post office) please call us and we can arrange collection with one of our courier partners.
