Purple Irish Moss Chondrus Crispus - Hand Sourced for us from the Coast of Western Ireland.
Irish moss is exceptionally rich in nutrients and antioxidants and quickly gaining a reputation as the next big superfood, in line behind kale, and blueberries.
Irish moss is an energising fuel source, providing long chain polysaccharides that help deliver nutrients over a longer period of time for a slower and more sustained nutritional uptake.
The Colourful Purple and Green variation is due to the unique drying method used which prevents exposure to sunlight, preserving the rich colouration of the Algae in its natural environment.
Common Uses:
Stabilising agent in food
Containing carrageenan, Irish Moss is commonly used as a thickener, emulsifier and stabiliser in milk products such as yogurt, ice cream, soy milk, and gelatin like desserts.
Drinks & Tonics
A very low-calorie drink and moreover it is rich in nutrients, thus it may help towards desired losing weight.
Most popular as a Caribbean respiratory tonic. A favourite amongst athletes and bodybuilders. Acting as a mild laxative and skin healer that is also helpful for strengthening the connective tissues and joints as well as a tonic for mood disorders.
Health
A reputed cure for digestive problems like stomach ulcers
Containing selenium, Irish Moss also helps in the production of thyroid hormone. It also has iodine in a good amount which helps in the functioning of the thyroid gland.
A source of potassium chloride, a nutrient that helps to dissolve catarrhs (inflammation and phlegm in the mucous membranes), which cause congestion.
It also contains compounds that act as natural antimicrobial and antiviral agents, helping to rid the body of infections.
In Venezuela it has been used for generations as a home remedy for sore throat and chest congestion, boiled in milk and served with honey before bed.
Homebrewing
Irish moss can also be used as a clarifying agent or finings in the process of brewing (beer)

- Express orders must be placed before 1pm on any weekday
- Orders placed after 1pm on Thursday will be delivered by 1pm on the following Monday
- There must be someone available to sign for receive the package between 7am 1pm on the day of delivery

Returns
Here at Baldwins it is our policy to give 100% satisfaction. We do know however, that there may be the odd occasion when you wish to return items. Below you will find an outline of our returns policy.
28 Day No-Quibble Guarantee
If, for any reason, you are unhappy with an item you have received, you may return it within 28 days, unopened and in its original condition, to our Freepost address (below). Upon receipt, we will be happy to give you a full refundfor the item.
Alternatively, you may wish to exchange the item for another. Please note that post and packing costs are non-refundable.
Returning An Item
To return an item, please package in its original wrapping (if possible) and provide a note outlining your name, address, order number and reason for returning.
If your item is under 20 Kg and is smaller than 61cm (L) x 46cm (W) x 46cm (D) then you can use our Free Royal Mail 48 Hour Tracked service by heading here and filling in the appropriate details:

This service will generate a label that you can either print at home or take with you to the post office for them to print.
You will need your order number which is the 6 digit number sent out on your order dispatch email. (If you have any trouble finding this, do give us a call and we can happily find it for you).
Once orders are returned, we aim to process them within 72 hours and (if required) notify you by mail when we have processed your refund and ship any replacements out as soon as possible.
If your item is over 20 Kg or larger than the specified size (or too heavy for you to take to the post office) please call us and we can arrange collection with one of our courier partners.
