The latin name derives from a myth where tears were shed, for love once sworn; Helen of Troy swept away by a man acting under the blessing of the Goddess of Love. (although, another myth suggests she was abducted, so...)

In Scandinavian lore, Elecampane is placed at the heart of the bouquet, a radiant emblem of Odin and the life-giving sun.

Health perks:

Elecampane root is a warming and bitter herb, which is traditionally used to break down and reduce excessive mucus. This herb helps clear congestion from the lungs, as well as soothe inflamed respiratory tissue. One of the roots herbal action is being an antispasmodic, therefore inferring its usefulness in persistent coughing that can also be spasmodic.

Beyond the lungs, Inula helenium helps to counter lethargy, restoring vitality and warmth to the overall system.
