Mail Order

Established since 1844 G. Baldwin & Co is London’s oldest and most established Herbalist and natural product retailer.

We are located on Walworth Road, SE17 in the heart of Elephant & Castle.

We are looking for a bright, hardworking and energetic multi-tasker to join our small but dynamic team to work in our busy mail order department.

Through our website and over the phone, we receive, process and ship between four and five thousand orders per month so high levels of accuracy and an extremely high standard of customer service is a must-have.

The main duties include (but aren’t limited to): 

  • Taking orders by phone and e-mail.
  • Answering customer queries (phone and e-mail).
  • Checking, processing and shipping customer orders.
  • Tracking shipments and solving customer delivery issues.
  • Dealing with out-of-stock issues and processing refunds.
  • Dealing with complaints and problems with the goal of customer retention.
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required

Lifting and carrying is involved daily so a hands-on positive attitude is essential.

We work together closely in our office and are looking for an individual who must have the following qualities to complement our small team:

  • Excellent communication skills across all mediums.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work productively in any situation.
  • A personable demeanour and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to prioritise your workload and use your own initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task and is a team player.
  • Excellent punctuality and attendance.
  • Experience with ecommerce platforms and ordering software.

A knowledge of, or interest in, alternative healthcare, aromatherapy, natural products, health food is preferable but not essential.

Full training will be given on the use of our Ordering Software (Khaos control) and other tools necessary for order processing but experience with any logistics and ordering software, ERP, CRM AND CMS systems is desirable.

Job type: Full-time -37.5 hours per week
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9am -5.30pm

Staff cover one late week every five weeks- 9.30am – 6pm Mon-Fri with a late opening on Thursday of 10.30am – 7pm.

Late Saturday opening occurs every 3 weeks 9.30am – 6pm.

Salary £11.20 per hour. £21,840 per annum

25% Staff discount

21 days annual leave (we also close for Christmas between 24th December and 2nd January)

London Living Wage employer

Employment will be on a month to month trial basis for three months. Leading on to a permanent contract.
