I have now had 3 consultations with Amanda. This is a brilliant arrangement. Amanda has given me such insightful advice. I’ve always been drawn to herbal medicine rather than drugs, and I have tried various remedies, but this is the first time I have taken professional advice. It has been so informative and it works!I can’t recommend this system highly enough. Lesley H

What to expect during your consultation

The Baldwins’ herbalists will ask you about medication you’re taking as well as supplements and herbal remedies.

We will ask your age and check whether you’re pregnant or wanting to conceive to ensure no contraindications when suggesting herbs, vitamins or products. We may also ask about diet, exercise, sleep, stresses and lifestyle as well as discussing the main reason you need a consultation. This is NOT a full consultation which would cover all your body systems, medical history and other matters which come up, in much more depth. We will send you by email your own individual herbal prescription which may suggest a simple mix of herbs and how to make it into an infusion (tea); or tinctures or off the shelf products, as well as some lifestyle and nutritional advice if appropriate.

We cannot advise 3rd parties on your behalf, they will need to book a separate consultation which is free to all. Although our aim is to treat each patient as holistically as possible, given the time constraints we’re under we will tend to focus on one pathology at a time. You can always book a follow up consultation to report on progress or to discuss other ailments as they occur.

Topics we commonly consult on

Although we may suggest preparations for a wide variation of conditions, we will suggest referrals to those with conditions which are beyond the scope of a 15 minute consultation.

Immune System

Colds / Flu / Viral Infections

Skin, Hair & Nails

Eczema / Dermatitis / Psoriasis

Gastro-intestinal

Diarrhoea / Constipation / Haemorrhoids / IBS / Dysbiosis

Urinary Tract

Irritable Bladder / Cystitis / UTI

Women’s Health

PMS / Fibroids / Menopause

Men’s Health

Enlarged Prostate

Seeing a patient in person is always preferable to a meeting over the internet. However, we also recognise the limitations of this in terms of cost, accessibility and time. If we do refer you we will suggest you consult with a herbalist who is a member of either of the professional bodies – the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy (CPP) or the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH). You will then be sure that you are seeing a professional who is insured and has undergone recognised, accredited training.

How we’re helping our clients

With such a vast array of herbal products to choose from in the catalogue it can be quite daunting as a novice to know what to try first!….so the Baldwin’s 15 minute online consultation service with a qualified herbalist offers a good opportunity to try herbal remedies under their professional guidance, using products they have prior experience of for the particular condition. There was good general advice too about life style improvements and a detailed herbal prescription aimed at giving more targeted help. The advice sought was for a chronic condition, so to be fair any visible potential improvements resulting from the prescription would not be quick fix but need to be given a chance to bring any improvement over several months, we remain hopeful! many thanks for the opportunity of accessing a herbalist protocol

Being well into my 20s I had no idea I could be a first time suffer of eczema. It was a horrible experience that made me feel insecure, outside of myself, and distressed. After getting some steroid cream prescribed I decided to do further research. From my findings I decided it was best for me to have a consultation with a herbalist to explore alternative options. Makeda, put me on an 8 week plan which consisted of a herbal brew a few times a day and a gentle topical cream.

My distress quickly turned to smiles as my skin began clearing up fortunately well before my 8 week plan was over. I’m very grateful that this service exists and is accessible due to the low cost refundable deposit. I advise anyone and everyone to use this service if they have any concerns/questions related to their health and wellbeing or are seeking alternatives. This is a service I now use every so often to ask questions and find solutions that pertain my health and wellbeing - be it allergies or low iron. Thank you Makeda!
