Grows really, really well in wet areas (you guessed it, marshes!) and is originally from Europe (now grown in the USA too).

19th Century of America, Eclectic medicine, Marshmallow root powder was the staple across apothecaries, as it was used in decoctions, syrups, lozenges and poultices.

Ibn Sina (Avicenna), the well known Persian Physician recommends the use of Marshamllow root powder for an inflammation, because of it's soothing nature.  

Nonetheless, water + Marshmallow root powder forms a gooey, viscous gel-like material that aids the mucosa lining of the gastrointestinal tract scoping from the oesophagus to the colon. This herb is ideally suited to conditions like heartburn, acid reflux, stomach ulcers, GERD, leaky gut, chronic IBS and gastritis. The powder form makes it easier for surface area coverage.

Within the root powder, there are polysaccharides that influence the integrity of mucosal lining and connective tissue throughout the body. It is supportive and an awesome long-term tonic to help strengthen the body from it's tissues, ground-up.
