Meadowsweet contains antioxidants, particularly flavonoids, which help regulate and reinforce the immune system. These same flavonoids may also support blood sugar management by protecting pancreatic cells from from oxidative damage and improving insulin sensitivity.

Alongside Willow Bark, Meadowsweet is also traditionally known as a 'herbal aspirin'. This is because it is an analgesic considering it has salicylates that contribute to inflammatory relief from acid reflux and dyspepsia. Meadowsweet's tannins express astrignency, making it suitable for supporting children during episodes of diarrhoea.

In addition, Meadowsweet acts as a mild diuretic; helping drain excess water stored in the body.
