Baldwins Remedy Creator - Crushed Comfrey Compress

Fight the horrible symptoms of insect bites with this homemade compress.

Comfrey has seen use as a medicinal herb since the Romans. Its Latin name – Symphytum – is derived from the Greek symphis, which refers to the healing of bones, and its folk names include ‘knitbone’ and ‘boneset’.

While it effectiveness at healing broken bones is now considered dubious at best, comfrey contains molecules which are thought to reduce inflammation whilst stimulating the growth and repair of cells.

Instructions:

1. Make a cider vinegar / water mixture, using one part cider vinegar to four parts water

2. Stir in 10g of Baldwins Organic Comfrey. Marigold petals can be used instead of comfrey if preferred

3. Warm mixture on the hob to desired temperature

4. Soak a clean flannel or dish cloth in the water / cider / herb mixture

5. Wring off excess liquid, and apply compress to the affected area.

Hold until symptoms subside.
