Senna is greatly used across Latin America and Africa, as well as Asia and Europe. The fruit-containing pod holds lower anthraquinone compounds compared to the leaves. Since a very long time, Senna pods are used as a laxative (due to its anthraquinone content) for short term use.

Health perks:

The herb is known for its immune-boosting properties. According to Siddha, Ayurvedic and African physicians, it is utilised because of its anti-microbial properties. This is due to being used in the treatment of cholera and fever (malaria and typhoid).     

Within traditional medicine, although indirectly, Senna has been used to regulate blood sugar levels.   

Senna can serve to provide relief from pain following physical trauma, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

In addition to its pain-relieving benefits, Senna can also balance compromised skin conditions, its natural properties help to sooth irritation and promote healing.
