This delightful flower is grown extensively in France, but is also cultivated in Eastern Europe, Britain, and even Australia.

Generally, everyone knows the uplifting fragrance of Lavender flowers, and the essential oil is our most popular too (probably the UK's most popular and well-used essential oil). Hanging a small bag (material) of Lavender flowers in the wardrobe can add a soothing fragrance to your garments.

Health perks:

Lavender is influential on the mind, the flowers are able to shift the mood to a much more calm state and so can have sedating effects. Inhaling the essential oil can be as effective as some prescribed sleeping medications.

A neat appplication of Lavender essential oil straight after an induced burn helps the healing process incredibly, and this is because of it's antiseptic and inflammatory-relieving properties.

The flower as a tea has been used traditionally to relieve upset stomachs, soothe wind and ease colic discomfort.

A tea can be made by steeping 2 teaspoons (approx. 10g) of Lavender in 250ml of boiling water for fifteen minutes. Drinking a portion up to three times a day.

The infusion of Lavender can be used as a wash, or the flowers themselves can be made into a shampoo with other preferred herbs to eliminate dandruff. Infusing Lavender in the bath can dissipate tension and allow an 'ahhh' moment of relief after a full-on day, a heightened emotional state or even just an overstimulated state of mind.
