Baldwins Sandalwood New Caledonia (Santalum austracaledonicom) Essential Oil

Hailing form the French territorial islands of New Caledonia, to the east of Australia in the South Pacific, is a small, semi-parasitic tree from the family Santalaceae (the same family as the famed Santalum album, source of classic Mysore Sandalwood).

This light yellow essential oil is steam distilled from the light heartwood of the tree (ignoring the tough, grey bark) and produces all the beauftiful, creamy, woody and balsamic notes of other sandalwood oils with an added sweet top note, almost hinting at floral tones.

Sandalwood oil is an excellent fixative, binding other oils and slowing their release.

Traditionally prized in many religious ceremonies alongside agarwood & cloves this oil brings a beautiful warming aroma to any blend but will work particularly well with Rose, Benzoin, Orange and other citrus oils.

One of a few oils that will actually improve with age, the shelf-life of sandalwood is incredibly long.
