Perfect Presents

Q. I’ve got a friend who is into healthy eating and buys lots of organic foods as well as supplements. She doesn’t like perfumed products much, which rules out a lot of cosmetics. Any ideas what I can buy for her?

A. Your friend may be interested in the book ‘Back to Eden’ by Jethro Kloss. It’s Baldwins best selling book and is packed with advice on herbs, nutrition and exercise – fascinate your friend!

Q. My mum is over 80 and I find it difficult to know what to buy her. Can you suggest any products that would make a nice present?

A. We’ve all had the same problem at some time or other. What to buy the person who says, “I don’t want anything”! Your elderly mum will probably enjoy being pampered with products such as Baldwins range of luxury handmade soaps made especially by The Natural Soap Company in rural Norfolk. You might also like to look at the Aubrey Organics range of cosmetics, which include Rosa Mosqueta bath and shower gel, which can be used as a wash if your mum is unable to take a bath, and has a lovely perfume of geranium and lavender. The Laughing Bird range includes a foot cream with cooling peppermint, tea tree and juniper that will make your mum’s feet feel 10 years’ younger!

Q. My sister loves anything to do with crafts but she’s done all the normal things like jewellery making, tapestry, scrap books, etc. Can you think of anything more unusual?

A. Tempt your sister into trying out the art of soap making. Baldwins sell soap flakes and soap moulds as well as essential oils to perfume the soap. The result is that your sister will be able to make individual soaps to her own recipe, which in themselves will make delightful presents. If you really want to spoil her, buy her a book on the art of soap making. Baldwins leading titles include ‘Milk Based Soaps’; ‘The Natural Soap Book’ and ‘The Soap Maker’s Companion’.

Q. My brother is mad about cooking and is always trying out new recipes. He’s also a fan of healthy eating. Do you stock any recipe books that I could buy him?

A. There is quite a choice when it comes to recipe books that promise a healthier way of living. At Baldwins we recommend the ‘Back to Eden Cook Book’, which is written by a nutritionist and is packed full of practical advice. You don’t say whether your brother is vegetarian, but if so he would probably find ‘Vegetarian Cooking Without’ an interesting addition to his kitchen library. Alternatively, how about the book from the TV series of the same name ‘You Are What You Eat’ by Dr Gillian McKeith.
