Mask Up, Glow Up and Show Up
“Shine like a star” we’re told.
“Be a shining example”, they say.
Well, as much as we’re encouraged to be shiny, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it’s often the last thing we want – especially when out and about socialising.
We all know a shiny face in selfies can be a pain, and spending money on endless blotting papers sadly doesn’t fix the cause of your skin’s issues.
But if you’re looking for a natural quick fix for oily skin, activated charcoal powder may well be the answer.
Just follow the simple steps below to create an activated Charcoal Mask for a pre-night out skin detox.
Activated charcoal powder
Our key ingredient, activated charcoal powder has many great benefits when applied to the skin. One of which, is its ability to unplug the oil and dirt from the pores in your skin, which also makes your pores appear smaller.
Honey has natural anti-bacterial and soothing qualities when applied to the skin. If you are suffering from a badly timed break out, honey is fantastic for clarifying your complexion and cleansing the skin on your face.
Turmeric powder is a spice with a wonderful bright pigment and great anti-inflammatory properties. When applied the skin, it can aid in the treatment for acne and provide glowing skin.
Bentonite clay powder
Clay powder can help to shed dead skin cells, this stops the overproduction of sebum (the oily substance on the surface of your skin) and can also remove bacteria. One of Bentonite clay powder top qualities, is its way of nourishing the skin is by regenerating new skin tissue and providing a “glow” after it has been applied.
- Put one teaspoon of Baldwins activated charcoal powder in a clean microwave safe bowl.
- Add two teaspoons of organic honey into the bowl, followed by two teaspoons of Turmeric powder.
- Next, add ½ a teaspoon of Bentonite clay powder to the mixture and put two teaspoons of water and stir.
Here is an appeeling bonus step: Add some gelatin flakes to your mask mixture to take it the next level, this will transform your creation into a refreshing peel-off mask. Take 1 tablespoon of Vegetable Gelatin agar flakes and thoroughly stir into your mixture until smooth. Warm the mask mixture for 10 secs at a time in the microwave, until the liquid thickens.
Once you’re happy with the consistency of the liquid, wait until it has partially cooled down before applying to your face, and when applying the activated charcoal mask to your face, be sure to avoid your eyes and eyebrows. You can apply the mixture with your fingers or a face mask brush; once applied let the mask do its magic by allowing the ingredients to set into your pores.
When dry, peel off the mask from the corners of your face or rinse off with warm water and pat your face dry with cotton towel.
And there you have it, your skin is now prepped for a night out - camera ready and shine free.
